Nose: Strong raw peanuts, something I’ve also found in high ABV casks of Amrut. Oak spices and some candy touches. Reminds me of high strength bourbons, but without the corn, or perfume notes from new oak. Feels huge for sure, but also simple and strongly oak-based. Some touches of spicy flour with water.
Taste: Sharp and bourbon-like. The bourboniest malt for sure. Flour, peanuts, pepper, and oak. This wood is starting to get to me. How about with water? Feels very American, in that the oak is all over the place. Is this a feature of the maturation climate, this over-extractive profile? If so, perhaps Indian malts are not my cup of uisge.
Finish: Oak, and syrup. Water makes it slightly candied.
